Nurses; Decisions on resuscitation

TARGET PARTICIPANT GROUP
The Course is Registered Nurses working with any group. It is appropriate for those working in a range of settings, including residential and nursing homes, hospitals and hospices and the dying person’s own home.
SYNOPSIS
The Course examines issues surrounding resuscitation of a client, the common fears of dying people and what constitutes good care when someone is close to death. Difficulties associated with sudden and unexpected deaths are explored and the course also allows time for participants to consider their role and appropriate strategies in sudden and anticipated death, not least attempted resuscitation.
Aim
To enable
participants to explore the needs and wishes of dying people and those who
may die suddenly. Ones own personal concerns; professional guidelines,
ethics and responsibility will be discussed. You will gain an understanding of the wider issues concerning death and attempted
resuscitation. Attendees will explore their own perceptions and beliefs
and those experienced by the client and family.
