Medication in The Elderly

TARGET PARTICIPANT GROUP

The course is designed both for care staff, within any organisation, who dispense or supervise drug administration or need to improve their knowledge on this topic.

SYNOPSIS

The course will explore and extend participants' knowledge of Medication in The Elderly, including The Law, Individual Responsibilities, Groups of Medication, Side Effects and methods of administration. Participants will explore their own role in this.


AIM

To provide comprehensive information about medication and older people.

Objectives

1. Have identified common medication and adverse effects.
2. Have identified drug interaction and effect.
3. Be able to explain the importance of effective drug administration in the work setting and your role in that.
4. Be able to list the key points of drug administration and systems available.
5. Have an understanding of professional accountability for medication and legal issues 
and the role of the unqualified member of staff in that process.
