Stroke (CVA)

DURATION: From Half Day


TARGET PARTICIPANT GROUP
The course is designed both for care and senior staff, within any organisation, who care for clients who have had a stroke, or are at risk of having a stroke.


SYNOPSIS
The course will explore and extend participants' knowledge about the topic: the forms it can take, those who are at risk, various explanations for the occurrence of Stroke and possible outcomes and response options. 

AIM
To understand the nature and extent of the effect that stroke has upon individuals and their family.

OBJECTIVES
Having completed the course, participants will / should be able to :-
1. Discuss the causes of 'stroke' 
2. Explain the common terms used in relation to 'stroke'
3. Recognise the signs and symptoms of 'stroke'
4. Consider the range and variety of problems following stroke
5. Explore the treatment and support systems available for stroke sufferers and their 
families.
6. Describe ways of reducing the risks of stroke.
