Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 

TARGET PARTICIPANT GROUP

The course is designed both for care and senior staff, within any organisation, who require to update their knowledge on the topic

SYNOPSIS

The course will explore and extend participants' knowledge about Mental Health and the above law: the course is particularly useful for those who do or are likely to utelise the law. Participants will go on to look at their own practice within various care groups such as mental Illness, learning Disabilities, and those with dementia.

AIM

The aim of the course is to provide participants with the opportunity to examine the wider issues of the above act.

OBJECTIVES

Having completed the course, participants will/should be able to :

1.Accesss a copy of The Act

2.Identify references and how they relate to clients within their care.

3.Explore individual responsibilities 

4.Discuss the need for vigilance and the consequences of poor practice

5.Identify the main legal implications
