The course is designed for those practitioners in all sectors who wish to gain an understanding of the problem of alcohol abuse in older people.
SYNOPSIS
The course identifies factors which may contribute to alcohol abuse in older people and discusses the management of the problem.
AIM
To provide comprehensive information on the problem of alcohol abuse in older people and to explore possible avenues of help for those who require it.
OBJECTIVES
Having completed the course participants will/should:
1. Be able to explain the meaning of alcohol abuse.
2. Describe some of the factors which may lead an older person to abuse alcohol.
3. Have described some of the effects of alcohol abuse on older people.
4. List some ways of managing the problem.
